After a decade of research in wireless sensor networks and the Internet of Things, we are now able to deploy huge multi-hop networks with hundreds of wireless sensor nodes. But what happens when we need to add additional sensing capabilities or a sensor on a node breaks? In this talk, we propose to augment Internet of Things networks with passive, battery-free sensor tags and discuss our first prototype towards that vision.
