A few questions about tkined: (we are running 1.4.7)
1 - What is the future/evolutions of tkined in version-3
2 - Is there an option available to start tkined with "editing locked"
3 - It seems that even when editing is locked, text fields can be modified...
4 - How to register a new apps in order to have it appearing in the top bar?
5 - Our current experience with tkined is:
a - a simple network drawing package!
b - interactive use of the predefine apps for investigating function/situation
of
a device
c - predefined set of network views (tki files) generated by program from our
network
device database
d - additional apps to monitor states via our own distributed object
monitoring system
protocol and modified apps to graph-display several snmp variables obtain
in a
single snmp request.
We are now trying to generate automatically details views of devices with
interfaces
states and traffic. We can use a scotty script to get the configuration of a
device
and build a tki file which will, once opened from tkined, create the visual
objects
and call the relevant applications to display traffic and state.
But it is an annoying 2 steps process! although it could be put in the same
script...
The question is: is it possible to start directly an apps from tkined command
line
(plus from the top bar), that will do all the work at once: get the config
from the
device, create the visual items in the tkined screen, monitor the
corresponding
variables and updates the visual items?
Many thanks for this very good snmp&co library and tool
and in advance for your answers to our questions.
