In 2010 Michael Beigl and his research group have moved from to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Please visit the
new hompeage of the group. From 2006 to 2010, Michael Beigl was Professor for Distributed and Ubiquitous Systems, and head of the DUS research group. Before he was Senior Researcher and Director of the TecO Research group at the University of Karlsruhe, from where he obtained both his MSc (1995) and PhD (Dr.-Ing)(2000) degrees in computing. His PhD thesis about Ubiquitous Computing environments (Kommunikation in interaktiven Räumen) received the FZI price for the best thesis of the year 2000. Michael was guest professor at Hide Tokuda Lab, Keio University, Japan in autum 2005. He is co-founder and member of the supervisory board of Particle Computer, a award winning spin-off company for Ubicomp technology. His research interests evolve around people and services at the center of communication and information technology, with specific interest in ubiquitous computing, self-organized collaboration, wireless sensor networks and communication, bridging ubiquitous computing systems using Web based Pervasive Computing technologies, novel information appliances and artefacts, location models and systems and in context awareness, recognition and prediction.
