While this is indeed a good book, I would also recommend:

"The Simple Book: an introduction to internet management."
Marshall Rose
Prentice Hall 2nd Ed 1994 ISBN 0-13-177254-6

This explains very well (albeit with some added opinion!) SNMP, including some
bits that are not at all obvious from the RFCs.

Alas though, these two books both refer to SNMPv2 Classic, which is now dead
as far as standards go with respect to rather complex administrative
framework - so look out for new editions when the current bout of
standardisation finishes.
