A lot of classes and lectures at universities and highschools are evaluated by students. As a result of such surveys statistical data records are collected in files or databases. Each row represents one record and serveral fields are orientated in columns. An example of such rawdata file shows [1]. Cause these files are less user-friendly statistical reports with sigificant statements must be done. As file format the Portable Document Format (PDF) is widly accepted for easy to read and print-oriented documents. A report build on the rawdata file in [1] is shown in [5], and another more nice formated report (build on unkown data) is shown in [6]. One opportunity to generate these reports is the use of the W3C Recommendation named XSL Formating Objects (XSL-FO) [3]. This innovative approach "describes formatting and flow semantics for paginated presentation that can be expressed using an XML vocabulary of elements and attributes. It is a well-thought-out and robust specification of formatting semantics for paginating information" [2]. Task: The Studienarbeit should discuss the possibilites of XSL-FO under the term of generation PDF Reports like [5] and [6] based on rawdate in [1]. The student should anaylse the availiable reports and create a XML-FO skeleton based on the layout and the content elements. A small Java programm has to be written to fullfill some statistical aggregation. Diagramms should be disregard. |
